WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Modern Analytics for Roadway Safety (MARS) Coalition Executive Director Andrew Rogers released the following statement on behalf of the coalition after the Senate confirmed several leaders across the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), including Assistant Secretary for the DOT Office of Research and Technology Seval Oz.

“This is a defining moment for America’s transportation system and our national approach to road safety. For decades, our national strategy has been largely reactive, responding to crashes after lives are lost instead of preventing failures in the first place. That approach no longer meets the scale or urgency of today’s challenges.

“The Department of Transportation plays a critical role in defining what modern roadway safety looks like in practice. The MARS Coalition welcomes these newly confirmed leaders and looks forward to working with them to accelerate a smarter, more proactive approach to safety. By working together and advancing data-driven decision-making, we can equip transportation leaders at every level with better insights, smarter tools, and safer roads across communities nationwide.”
